Biography

I am a digital business strategist with expertise in social media, digital automotive marketing, web analytics, business case analysis, and competitive and audience research techniques.

From November 2006 to December 2008 I was a Strategist at Razorfish, a Microsoft company. At Razorfish I contributed several articles to the Headlight Blog, a blog about digital marketing in the automotive vertical. I used quantitative and qualitative research tools such as Omniture SiteCatalyst, Keynote Webeffective, NetRatings, ComScore, and @Plan, in addition to primary research, to build a profile of end users and their digital needs. I worked on clients such as XM Radio, Ford Motor Company, T. Rowe Price, and Amway.

Prior to Razorfish, I was the Assistant Director of the Columbia institute for Tele-Information, a telecom and media research center at the Columbia Business School, from 2003 to 2006. I was responsible for research in the management of media companies, managing our staff of 20-plus interns and admins, conference planning and logistics, financial reporting and forecasting, and our internal technology programs. While at CITI I initiated our program of research into WiMAX, modeled the adoption of wireless services and IPTV services, and managed the production of several academic volumes including the forthcoming Media Ownership and Concentration in America by Eli Noam.

Previous to joining CITI, I worked as a Consultant at Arlen Communications, researching and writing a census of the internet service provider industry, the Federal Communications Commission, and several startups doing programming. I’m proud to have learned a lot from those experiences about the need for strong vision and deep execution.

I have a BA in Political Science from Cornell. I've lived in NYC since 2003, but am originally from Kahlifornia- the dot com bubble provided my earliest summer jobs, though most of those companies don't exist anymore :-). I write and perform sketch comedy with The Stuff. Growing up with HBO and Cinemax means I have seen some movies starring John Candy more than 50 times. I’m a sucker for 80s movies and music references, and classic rock in general (check me out on Last.fm and see what I mean). I subscribe to the print edition of the New York Times, love the City Room blog and I miss the Metro section. You can find me on Twitter discussing the MTA, Facebook monetization strategies, and how businesses can weather the current economic climate.
